History of the Aaradhi Family and the Legacy of Devotion to Shri Trimbakeshwar

The Aaradhi family has resided in the holy pilgrimage site of Trimbakeshwar for several centuries. The progenitor of this lineage, Shri Gangadhar Maharaj Aaradhi, pursued a rigorous spiritual path consisting of continuous worship of Shri Trimbakeshwar, the circumambulation (pradakshina) of Brahmagiri, and the daily Pradosh Pushpa Puja of the Shri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga. Pleased by his extraordinary devotion, Bhagwan Shri Trimbakeshwar blessed him with a divine, sacred Shivling formed from a handful of sand in the Vaitarna River. Offering a direct divine vision of Shri Trimbakeshwar, this Shivling is worshipped to this day at ‘Shivdarshan’ (Aaradhiwada) in Trimbakeshwar.

During that era, while Shri Gangadhar Maharaj Aaradhi was gathering flowers for the Pradosh worship, Saint Shri Muktabai appeared before him in a divine vision. She instructed him to clear the Samadhi of Sant Shreshta Shri Sadguru Nivruttinath Maharaj, which was then hidden amidst dense cactus bushes. Shri Gangadhar Maharaj Aaradhi discovered the sacred site, meticulously cleared it, and performed daily worship and service of Shri Nivruttinath Maharaj for a year. Furthermore, the Aaradhi family played a vital role in initiating the yearly Shri Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj Yatra at Trimbakeshwar. Authentic historical accounts of these events are recorded in the sacred text, ‘Shri Nivruttinath Yatra Mahatmya’.

Several holy men in this lineage have sanctified the family through their spiritual merit. Shri Gangadhar Maharaj Aaradhi took his Samadhi directly behind the Samadhi of Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj. The succeeding devotees, Shri Bappa Maharaj Aaradhi, Shri Mahadev Maharaj Aaradhi, and Shri Daji Maharaj Aaradhi (II) also attained their final resting places in the Samadhi mandir premises of Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj. Shri Daji Maharaj Aaradhi (I) took Samadhi at the holy site of Shri Saptashrungi Gad, while Shri Ramrao Aaradhi embraced Shiv Sannyas (renunciation) in the latter part of his life and attained Samadhi at Vadner Khakurdi in Malegaon taluka.

Following Shri Ramrao Maharaj Aaradhi, the sacred service of the daily Pradosh Pushpa Puja was entrusted to Shri Daji Maharaj Aaradhi (III). His son, Shri Rangnath Daji Aaradhi, has faithfully carried out the continuous, unbroken worship and service of the Shri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga since the young age of eight, from the year 1960 to the present day. Today, Shri Rangnath Maharaj Aaradhi, all his brothers, his son Shri Kaustubh Rangnath Aaradhi, and the upcoming generation of the family continue to uphold this sublime legacy with utmost devotion. Through spiritual penance, mastery of Vedic scriptures, and unwavering dedication to Shri Trimbakeshwar, the Aaradhi family preserves this sacred tradition with profound faith.

In this sacred land, all divine rituals and ancestral rites (Shraddha Karma) practiced since the Vedic period are performed meticulously through us in accordance with the principles of religious scriptures. Major religious rituals conducted include Ganga Poojan, Rudrabhishekar, Laghurudra, Maharudra, Saptashati Path, Navchandi, Shatchandi, Sahasrachandi Yagya, Laghurudra Swahakar, Maharudra Swahakar, and Atirudra Swahakar. Furthermore, ancestral rites such as Tirth Shraddha, Tripindi Shraddha, Narayan Nagbali, Vishnu Bali, and Varshik Shraddha, as well as appeasement rituals (Shanti Karma) including Kalsarp Shanti, various forms of Janan Shanti, and Yog Shanti, are performed with deep devotion and faith.

For the past 64 years, by divine grace, we have upheld the sacred tradition of performing all religious rites selflessly. Shri Kaustubh Ranganath Aaradhi is dedicated to carrying forward this rich legacy. He has acquired profound knowledge of Vedic scriptures, Astrology, and Numerology under the guidance of revered Vedic scholars in Trimbakeshwar. Alongside his spiritual education, he graduated with First Class Distinction in Civil Engineering from Savitribai Phule Pune University and holds a Master’s degree in Town Planning. Combining this expertise, he also provides well-researched guidance in Vastu Shastra. २. पुरोहिताची ओळख : अधिकृत पुरोहितांची ओळख त्यांच्या पारंपरिक स्थानिक निवासस्थान, पूर्ण नाव, पुरोहित संघाचे अधिकृत चिन्ह, ताम्रपट व ओळखपत्राद्वारे करता येते. ते हॉटेल, रेल्वे अथवा बसस्थानकावर भाविकांना घेण्यासाठी फिरत नाहीत किंवा वारंवार दूरध्वनी करून आग्रह करीत नाहीत. मध्यस्थ टाळून थेट पुरोहितांशी संवाद साधावा.

१. श्री क्षेत्र की परंपरा : श्री क्षेत्र त्र्यंबकेश्वर की प्राचीन पौराणिक एवं पारंपरिक विरासत का संज्ञान माननीय सर्वोच्च न्यायालय द्वारा लिया गया है। न्यायालय के निर्देशानुसार पुरोहित संघ (पंजीकरण क्र. F-352, धर्मदाय आयुक्त, नाशिक) के प्रतिनिधि को श्री त्र्यंबकेश्वर देवस्थान न्यास के न्यासी मंडल में न्यासी के रूप में सम्मिलित किया गया है। इस पारंपरिक व्यवस्था का सम्मान करते हुए भाविक अपने धार्मिक विधि-विधान पुरोहित संघ से संबद्ध अधिकृत स्थानीय पुरोहितों के माध्यम से ही संपन्न कराएँ।

२. पुरोहित की पहचान : अधिकृत पुरोहितों की पहचान उनके पारंपरिक स्थानीय निवास, पूर्ण नाम, पुरोहित संघ के अधिकृत चिन्ह, ताम्रपट एवं पहचान-पत्र के माध्यम से की जा सकती है। वे भाविकों को लेने के लिए होटल, रेलवे अथवा बस स्थानक पर नहीं आते और न ही बार-बार दूरभाष कर आग्रह करते हैं। मध्यस्थों से बचकर सीधे पुरोहितों से संपर्क करें।

Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar, rooted in the eternal Sanatana Vedic tradition, is a sacred pilgrimage centre. Preserving the sanctity, scriptural authenticity and traditional character of religious rituals performed here is a shared responsibility. Respecting the faith and time of every devotee, the following guidance is presented:

1. The Tradition of Shri Kshetra : The ancient Puranic and traditional heritage of Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar has been taken into consideration by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Pursuant to the directions of the Hon’ble Court, a representative of Purohit Sangh, Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar (Registration No. F-352, Charity Commissioner, Nashik) has been included as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust. In recognition of this traditional framework, devotees are advised to have their religious rituals performed only through authorised local priests affiliated with Purohit Sangh.

2. Identifying an Authorised Priest : Authorised priests may be identified through their traditional local residence, full name, official Purohit Sangh insignia, Tamrapatra (traditional copper-plate credential) and identity card. They do not approach devotees at hotels, railway stations or bus stations for pick-up, nor do they repeatedly make unsolicited calls. Devotees are advised to avoid intermediaries and communicate directly with the priest.

3. Beware of Online Misleading Offers : Devotees are advised to exercise caution regarding websites, mobile applications and social-media promotions offering rituals at unusually low fees, immediate performance of ceremonies, completion of elaborate rituals within unrealistically short periods, or guaranteed religious outcomes. A religious ritual is not a commercial transaction, it is a sacred observance founded upon scripture, sankalpa, prescribed procedure and tradition. Before making any payment or confirming a ritual, devotees should verify the priest’s authenticity and remain cautious of unauthorised individuals, organisations and intermediaries making misleading claims.
