Meaning : I bow to that Supreme Lord Trimbakeshwar, who resides on the pristine peaks of the Sahyadri mountains along the holy banks of the Godavari River, and whose very sight destroys all accumulated sins.

Sri Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is considered the foremost (Aadya) or the first among the twelve Jyotirlingas. The Dwadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram mentions ‘Tryambakam Gautamitate‘, which signifies that this sacred shrine is situated near the banks of the origin of the holy Godavari-Gautami river. Generally, in a Jyotirlinga, only the form of Lord Shiva is worshipped. However, at Trimbakeshwar, the Divine Trinity Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh reside together within a single Jyotirlinga. In spirituality, this sacred site symbolizes the absolute equilibrium of the three Gunas Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. The name ‘Trimbakeshwar’ is derived from ‘Tri’ meaning three and ‘Ambaka’ meaning eyes or deities, thus designating this divine place.
The hollow space at the center of this Jyotirlinga represents ‘Shunya’ (the Cosmic Void). As stated in the Upanishads, this entire universe has emerged from the void and will ultimately dissolve back into that infinite state. This site reminds us of that complete, ultimate Reality and the primordial vibrations of Omkara.
Just as yogic science describes the presence of three main nadis Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna in the human body, Trimbakeshwar is considered the energetic confluence of these three channels on the surface of the Earth.
For all these reasons, Trimbakeshwar is known as a ‘Mukti Kshetra’, a land of liberation. In spiritual philosophy, human desires, ignorance, and ego are termed Granthis or internal knots. Performing faithful darshan, worship, ancestral rites (Shraddha-karma), acts of charity, Tarpan and other religious duties along with sacred chanting at this holy shrine helps untie these inner knots of the mind, bestowing peace upon the soul and granting Moksha.
The Kushavarta Kund is the holiest water body in the region, recognized as the official source where the River Godavari reappeared after flowing underground from Brahmagiri. It is believed that Sage Gautama bound the river here using Kusha, creating a permanent holy streme. A holy dip in these Teertha during the Sinhasth or auspicious Parvas is equivalent to a thousand years of penance, washing away the deepest of Karmic imprints and purifying the soul for its journey toward the Divine.
Adding to the spiritual aura of Trimbakeshwar is the Sanjeevan Samadhi of Santshresth Nivruttinath Maharaj, the elder brother and Guru of Sant Dnyaneshwar. This site is the foundation of the Warkari tradition. It is a place of profound silence and vibration, where the lineage of the Nath Panth continues to bless seekers. The Samadhi remains a beacon of Advaita (non-duality), reminding every devotee that the path to Shiva is through the grace of a Guru.
The Pradosh Pushpa Puja is an ancient legacy of service offer to the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga during the Pradosh Kaal, a sacred time when one can see both sun and moon in the sky. This ritual is performed exclusively by the Aaradhi family for centuries. This uninterupted ancestral service, the Tapasya remains The spiritual heartbeat of the Aaradhi lineage, in walking piece prosperity and divine grace for all creation.

✦ Important Notice for Devotees ✦
Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar, rooted in the eternal Sanatana Vedic tradition, is a sacred pilgrimage centre. Preserving the sanctity, scriptural authenticity and traditional character of religious rituals performed here is a shared responsibility. Respecting the faith and time of every devotee, the following guidance is presented:
1. The Tradition of Shri Kshetra : The ancient Puranic and traditional heritage of Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar has been taken into consideration by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Pursuant to the directions of the Hon’ble Court, a representative of Purohit Sangh, Shri Kshetra Trimbakeshwar (Registration No. F-352, Charity Commissioner, Nashik) has been included as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of Shri Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust. In recognition of this traditional framework, devotees are advised to have their religious rituals performed only through authorised local priests affiliated with Purohit Sangh.
2. Identifying an Authorised Priest : Authorised priests may be identified through their traditional local residence, full name, official Purohit Sangh insignia, Tamrapatra (traditional copper-plate credential) and identity card. They do not approach devotees at hotels, railway stations or bus stations for pick-up, nor do they repeatedly make unsolicited calls. Devotees are advised to avoid intermediaries and communicate directly with the priest.
3. Beware of Online Misleading Offers : Devotees are advised to exercise caution regarding websites, mobile applications and social-media promotions offering rituals at unusually low fees, immediate performance of ceremonies, completion of elaborate rituals within unrealistically short periods, or guaranteed religious outcomes. A religious ritual is not a commercial transaction, it is a sacred observance founded upon scripture, sankalpa, prescribed procedure and tradition. Before making any payment or confirming a ritual, devotees should verify the priest’s authenticity and remain cautious of unauthorised individuals, organisations and intermediaries making misleading claims.
